Any electrical equipment installed in the United States or Canada requires a site inspection in accordance to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the Canadian Electrical Code.
If factory installed internal wiring or the construction of equipment has been listed by a qualified electrical testing laboratory (NRTL), such as TÜV SÜD, it is not required to be inspected at the time of installation according to Article 90.7 of the NEC.
