Peabody, Massachusetts. TÜV SÜD America Inc. is pleased to announce the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) has added TÜV SÜD America as a safety and testing lab partner in accordance with the requirements of their ANSI-accredited Lift Certification Program.
ALIs program recognizes private sector organizations accredited by OSHA as Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs). This recognition signifies that the organization has met the necessary qualifications specified to support ALIs Certification Program. The NRTL determines that specific vehicle lifts, equipment and accessories meet consensus-based safety standards that provide the assurance, required by OSHA and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction, that these products are safe for use in the U.S. workplace and in the DIY consumer market.
"We are very happy that TÜV SÜD now provides an additional testing and certification choice for ALIs membership. We will bring a fresh approach and strong technical capabilities to the program and believe the membership, as well as the organization, will benefit from both," stated Doug Hughes, Director of Sales and Business Development, Testing Division, TÜV SÜD America.
All motor operated automotive lift models must be listed by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), in accordance with ANSI/UL 201 entitled "American National Standard for Safety for Garage Equipment"; and for installation in Canada, in accordance with CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 68.
"We welcome TÜV SÜD as an approved safety and testing lab partner for the ALI Lift Certification Program," states R.W. "Bob" O'Gorman, ALI president. "The addition of TÜV SÜD to the program gives lift manufacturers another reliable resource to call on when having their vehicle lifts tested in support of validating they comply with industry safety and performance standards."
TÜV SÜD America is an NRTL able to test to standards UL 201, CSA C22.2 No. 68 and ANSI/ALI ALCTV:2011.
